Composite fillings
Fillings are today (against earlier times when amalgam was used for metal fillings) made of composite, a high-quality dental plastic. This material is being applied in a soft condition and it strengthens when receiving light effect, so grants a stable, aesthetic high-quality solution while solving the cavity problem. The quality of the used filling material is also very important as this is crucial with regards of duration and look. When placing the composite material in the cavity with a special filling technique we remake the original, anatomical form of the tooth and restore its function, beside we take care that the color of the filling must match with the color of your teeth.
Also, many patients are looking for safe removal of amalgam fillings in order to replace the metal fillings with white ones. For this purpose we isolate the area to make sure none of the amalgam gets into the body when being removed.

Onlay
An onlay is needed when the decay -or damage- is so extended that a regular filling is not sufficient to restore the tooth. In such cases, a more extensive filling produced in the dental lab, is made. Onlays replace cusps of the teeth and have a volume. They are applied to the outside area of the teeth when the replacement of the tooth edge is also needed.
The materials used for onlays are gold, composite or ceramic.
Inlay
Inlays are a very good solution for saving a tooth with extended cavity. In fact, inlays are a kind of filling, that are made by a dental technician based on a previously taken imprint. Then it is fixed in the tooth with an adhesive by the dentist. Inlays are small supplements that do not require the replacement of tooth cusps, only filling the “inside”.
With both an onlay and inlay we can completely restore the anatomical shape, function and aesthetic appearance of your teeth.
Also inlays can be made of gold, composite or ceramic, however inlays and onlays of gold are not that popular any more as they don’t look natural and also weigh more. Moreover, in addition to the lab costs the price of gold has to be considered. For an inlay 3-6 grams of gold is needed.
