Conserving dentistry

Evergreen Dental Budapest

Evergreen Dental is your specialist for all types of dental treatment, be it crowns, bridges, implants and bone augmentation, or complex total restoration or a perfect Hollywood smile. Our goal is always the preservation or rescue of worthy of preservation or partially damaged teeth. In this article, we would like to take a closer look at the conservative treatment options.

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEM TYPES IN DENTISTRY?

Basically, we distinguish between functional and aesthetic problems.

Functional problems can be:

  • Missing teeth
  • Painful teeth
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Inflamed teeth
  • Moving teeth
  • Teeth grinding

Aesthetic problems can be:

  • Partially damaged teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Irregularities
  • Crooked teeth

Aesthetic filling

Application: solving decays for teeth with partial deficiency of the tooth substance, the defect can be at the tooth edge or in the tooth interior.

Method: The hole is filled with a soft, special, light-binding material, this material hardens on UV light

Material: Composite

Price: Depending on the surface of the tooth or the filling surface € 80 (up to two surfaces) or € 120 (up to four surfaces),

A tooth has 5 surfaces

Treatment time: Depending on the number of tooth surfaces 1-4 days (depending on the amount of teeth and tooth surfaces)

Root canal treatment

Application: For dead teeth or if the pulp is already affected by decay and therefore inflammation occurs and a removal of the vital pulp can not be averted.

Procedure: removal of the vital part of the tooth (pulp), the nerves and the inflamed part,

Disinfection and root filling

Material: root filling material

Price: depending on the number of canals: 1 canal: 160 €, 2 canals: 240 €, 3 canals 300 €, 4 canals 350 €

Treatment time: It is very difficult to estimate how long a root canal treatment takes. Many factors affect the time required, so first of all the pulp must be removed thoroughly and completely. Sometimes this is not possible with one treatment and has to be repeated. Furthermore, it is customary to provisionally fill the root canal in order to see how the tooth reacts to the root canal treatment. If the inflammation goes back after the treatment, a successful treatment can be assumed, the root canal can be finally filled. The goal is to firmly seal the root canal with the final filling, so that no leftovers, bacteria can penetrate it any more.

It may be that the root canal treatment has to be repeated several times. In such cases, the root is medically flushed and provisionally filled.

Since the duration of root canal treatment can not be determined in advance, it is unusual to travel to Budapest for root canal treatment only; rather, root canal treatment is an integrated, additional procedure that is usually done before crowning the tooth.

After root canal treatment, it is possible that the canal can not be closed immediately. In this case, a provisional medical filling is made, and on a later visit (in about 4 weeks), the canals are rinsed again with disinfectant and then closed.

Note: root canal treatment is no guarantee that the tooth can be preserved. As already described, there are many factors of uncertainty and it can not be clearly determined beforehand whether the treatment is crowned with long-term success. Rather, root canal treatment is a way to rescue a chronically inflamed tooth so that it keeps it‘s aesthetic and functional purposes.

Inlay / onlay

Inlays, onlays are larger fillings that are not produced in the dental practice but in the dental laboratory. We talk about inlays, if the defect in the tooth interior, of onlay, if it exists on the outside of the tooth.

In the case of a major lack of teeth, a more permanent and more complex solution is necessary, a normal filling is not sufficient to rebuild a larger part oft he tooth.

Application: Restoration of caries-damaged teeth with a laboratory-made “filling”.

Procedure: For an inlay or onlay an impression is taken in the dental clinic, exactly as with crowns.

Material: the most common materials are composite, ceramic or gold.

Price: 290 €

Production time: 4-5 days, depending on the number of units.

Note: The gold price for the price of the inlays ist o be added if that material is chosen.

General information on periodontal treatment

Periodontology is an area of dental medicine that deals with the treatment and prevention of dental gum problems. The so called „dental bed“ consists of the tissues surrounding the teeth, including the gum, the cementum covering the surface of the tooth root, and the surrounding tooth bones as well as the periodontal fibers.

Action:

Step 1: Remove tartar

Step 2: Sand blasting

Step 3: Curettage (= periodontal deep cleaning), which can be:

  1. a) a closed curettage: without gum opening
  2. b) an open curettage: the gums will be opened

Application: The formation of calculus on the tooth surface can be both below and above the gums

Method:

Step 1 and 2:

Scaling with Instrument, then Sandblasting: With Ultrasonic / Ultrasonic Device; Sandblasting; Polishing (with brushes and paste)

Price: 40 €

Treatment time: 60 minutes

Note: The calculus removal or scale and polishing is highly recommended at least once a year. After major dental surgery with artificial teeth, it is even necessary in order not to lose the dental warranty

Step 3: Cleansing (curettage) or periodontal deep cleansing

Application: for gum problems, with retracted gums. It becomes necessary when the gums are so inflamed that the tissue under the gums and root cement layer must be removed, effectively destroying the harmful bacteria living there. At the end of treatment, an antiseptic is placed in the periodontal pockets to prevent further development of the bacteria. (This procedure takes place under local anesthesia.)

Procedure: deep cleansing under the gums, a special instrument is inserted between the gums and the teeth and the intermediate area is cleaned.

Material:

Price: 20 € / tooth or 150 € / tooth quadrant

Treatment time: 60-90 minutes per quadrant

Note: Several treatments may be required. The lifespan of most of these teeth can only be lengthened by curettage, and rarely fully restored.

CONCLUSION

The preservation of one’s own teeth is always the highest priority, as it is always easier, functionally better, to use one’s own teeth, also for fake teeth, than to replace missing teeth with implants, for example.
